Yesterday was Joey's (my husky) 14th birthday. May just be pulling ages & dates out of the rectum, but its something. He seemed to have a good day. Took him out at midnight for walkies and we had light snow flurries coming down, got to see prancing husky and happy tail. In the morning, got woken up my a very perky Joey, and took him and Nemo out for breakfast munchies from the 'magic window' followed by reregistering the dogs, and then heading home for fluffs & snuggles. At 3:30 received a call that 'The Cake' was ready. Ok, its just a giant cupcake, but peanut butter/yellow cake with peanut butter frosting... and each of the boys got half! Had some good walkies and they got plenty of pets from random people and the usuals. All things considered, it was a really good day.
He needed a good day, been fighting a UTI since the beginning of October and realized that some of the secondary symptoms were not creaky joints from old age (Xray showed no signs of joint dysplasia or arthritis) but were pointing to a Lyme infection. But, Lyme is treated with antibiotics and pain medication and went for an antibiotic that would be able to treat the UTI as well so just switched medications and hoped for the best. Started the Amoxicillin and Tramadol the day before Thanksgiving and only just started to see the beginnings of energetic and perky husky a few days back. Lucky to have such a wonderful old fluff, and just glad that he seems to be finally feeling better. For several weeks, I was concerned that he might not make it and at one point "He might need a wheelchair" was the best news (
Now, if only I could get him to take his pills, but things are going smoother now that I am repackaging the pills into smaller ones... It just takes an hour to repackage them.

2017, off to a great start
Only partially sarcastic, and I am not referencing the giant cheese puff in the room.
Finally have a computer that is fully functional. Graphics card has been acting iffy for a while and finally shit the bed. Was saving up for a new on, and NewEgg was running a sale right when it happened so kinda lucked out. Well, sorta. My ancient monitor (I don't even remember when I got it, likely 10+ years old) keeps randomly flipping out and needing a few seconds timeout because it is having disputes with the information the graphics card is sending it... And then had a RAM chip go... followed by my wifi card... At least the RAM and wifi card die
Another chapter comes to a close
Bit of a story here, and it will involve some digressions and side-notes, but please bear with me.
Many years ago, think back in 2004 or 2005, I was looking for a movie to do a report on. I needed a copy of Mars Attacks and I hit damn near every movie rental and purchase place I could find. Last hope was this tiny, family owned place, and they happened to have a copy (on DVD no less.) Just snagged the movie and felt something tug on the leg of my pants. There was this adorable little husky puppy with the most oversized paws I had ever seen (and having grown up with corgis, that is saying something.) As soon as I noticed him, he trie
2 months on
Well, a bit more than two months now since Logger came to his new home. It has been slow going, but he has slowly been transitioning from being an outdoor working dog to an indoor-living companion. About a week ago, he finally started sleeping indoors and, as much as he loved his fresh wood shavings, he seems to absolutely adore his fleece blankets. Biggest changes have been in his personality, going from affectionate but reserved when he arrived to an exuberant cuddle bug. Really think Logger loves having a human of his very own and he is a wonderful guy to have around.
How he and Nemo would interact was also big concern of mine, but th
Hes a lumberjack and he is ok...
And, hopefully, tomorrow will be the long trip out to the kennel to bring him home with me. This is Logger. Not embarrassed to admit I fell in love when I first saw his picture and he turned out to be even more adorable in person. More importantly, he and Nemo took to each other surprisingly quickly.
I hope that he will sleep all night and play all day. If he decides that he wants to put on women's clothing and hang around in bars, he will have my full support.
